Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" Leads 2012's Holiday Songs

Each year at this time of year Billboard begins charting the top holiday songs in the same fashion as they create the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Sales, radio airplay, and streaming data all combine to give a look at what are the most popular holiday tunes. It is no surprise this year that so far Mariah Carey is leading the pack with her perennial favorite "All I Want For Christmas Is You." In the first chart week for this year it sold 27,000 copies. First released in 1994 the song has sold over two million digital copies in total.
Aside from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" which was released in 1996, Mariah Carey's song is the most recently released recording in the top 10. Looking at radio airplay alone, Burl Ives' legendary "A Holly Jolly Christmas" would be #1. The highest ranking new holiday song in sales is Colbie Caillat's "Christmas In the Sand" at #9. Over on radio airplay there are no new recordings on the chart until you find your way down to Rod Stewart's "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" at #48. Paige Thomas Rises To the Top Giving Last Night's Best X Factor Performance Covering Ric Astley

On paper I'm certain that covering Ric Astley's much maligned "Never Gonna Give You Up" looked risky indeed. However, on stage Paige Thomas made it all look effortless and tremendously engaging. will.i.am and Britney Spears Soar To #1 at iTunes After X Factor Video Debut

Last night will.i.am and Britney Spears debuted the music video for the new single "Scream and Shout" on X Factor. Today the single is riding the top of the iTunes digital sales chart and looking like it will be will.i.am's first major hit single as lead solo artist. The music video is built around multiple imaging of the pair and accompanying dancers. It has a very futuristic feel matching will.i.am's music. The song has also climbed into the top 50 at pop radio airplay. "Scream and Shout" will make its debut on next week's Billboard Hot 100.

Ke$ha Takes Over At Pop Radio In This Week's US Pop Music Charts

Rihanna owns both the overall albums and singles charts this week, but at pop radio it's Ke$ha and her hit "Die Young" that are ruling the roost. On the overall singles chart she has edged to #2 with the song just behind Rihanna. This is just one of many stories to learn more about in this week's coverage of the US pop music charts.

Birth and Songwriting Success:

Taio Cruz was born Adetayo Ayowale Onile-Ere in London, England April 23, 1982. His father is Nigerian and mother Brazilian. Taio Cruz signed a music publishing deal at the age of 18. His first major music industry success came as co-writer of Will Young's 2004 hit single "Your Game" which reached #3 on the UK pop singles chart. The song received a Brit Award in 2005 for Best British single.

Taio Cruz' Debut 'Departure':

Taio Cruz' success as a songwriter helped propel him forward as an artist in his own right. He released his debut single as an artist, "I Just Wanna Know," in 2006 and it reached the top 30 on the UK pop singles chart. It was followed by "Moving On" and then the top 5 smash "Come On Girl" featuring Luciana in advance of Taio Cruz' first full-length album Departure released in March 2008. The album was a top 20 hit in the UK and certified gold for sales. Two more singles "I Can Be" and "She's Like a Star" were top 20 pop singles.

Taio Cruz released the single "Break Your Heart" in the fall of 2009 in advance of his album Rokstarr. It was a #1 smash in the UK. The album Rokstarr reached #14 on the UK album chart. "Break Your Heart" was released as Taio Cruz' US debut single with a guest rap from Ludacris in February 2010. It topped the pop singles chart in the US as well leaping from #53 to the top. Bebas Berpendapat

Setelah melalui pembahasan yang alot di DPR, maka Rancangan Undang Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik (RUU ITE), akhirnya disahkan DPR, setelah mengendap hampir 4 tahun.

Payung hukum untuk transaksi elektronik dan hal-hal informasi telematika mempunyai payung hukum, setelah pelaku ekonomi melakukan transaksi bisnis tanpa ada cantelan hukum yang pasti.
Lolosnya RUU ITE juga mengundang tanya? Bagimana tidak, pasal penyebar kebencian (haatzai artikelen) yang gigih diperjuangkan oleh para insan pers “menuju kebebasan berekspresi yang proposional”, dengan era reformasi dengan keluarnya keputusan Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK) yang “menghapus pasal-pasal yang memasung kebebasan insan pers”, merupakan kemenangan bangsa Indonesia, setelah 35tahun terpasung dengan pasal karet yang dipakai penguasa untuk mengontrol setiap berita dan opini di media cetak dan elektronik.
Pasal 27 ayat 3 RUU ITE yang mengatur ikhwal penghinaan atau pencemaran nama baik lewat distribusi dokumen elektronik secara sengaja. Orang yang melakukan hal ini bisa dihukum penjara 6 (enam) tahun atau denda Rp1 miliar.
Pasal 28 ayat 2 RUU ITE mereka yang dengan sengaja menyebarkan informasi yang ditujukan untuk menimbulkan kebencian atau permusuhan dan atau kelompok masyarakat tertentu berdasarkan suku,agama, ras dan antar golongan juga diancam penjara 6 (enam) tahun atau denda Rp 1 milyar .
Pasal ini menjerat siapa saja yang membuat berita “secara online”, yang terkena tidak hanya para “blogger”, juga para insan pers yang independen dan dari media koran atau majalah yang memuat berita secara online , termasuk para penulis/peneliti yang mengekpresikan media elektronik dan cetak.
Menjadi catatan semua pihak, mengapa pasal pasal karet dan multi tafsir muncul kembali?, secara tidak langsung akan menjadi “alat” penguasa untuk mengontrol, memasung media elektronik dan cetak, karena tidak dijelaskan secara rinci alasan apa pasal tersebut dimunculkan?, kita kembali pada jaman pengekangan tidak hanya insan pers tetapi juga para pemerhati dan penulis yang kerap memberika opini secara kritis dan konstruktif baik di media online atau media cetak, justru akan menjadi bumerang untuk mencicipi pasal pemasungan kebebasan berpendapat ( RUU ITE ) tersebut .
Jika diamati Pasal tersebut , mirip dengan Pasal 154 KUHP tentang larangan penyebaran kebencian dimuka terhadap pemerintah dan Pasal 155 KUHP tentang larangan larangan menyiarkan kebencian terhadap pemerintah, perbedaan pada RUU ITE kebencian terhadap individu atau golongan. Setelah diajukan uji materi kelompok insan pers, Mahkamah Konstitusi mengabulkan untuk mencabut pasal penyebar kebencian dalam KUHP tersebut , semua pasal karet dinilai MK bertentangan dengan kebebasan menyatakan pendapat yang dijamin oleh konstitusi.
Sikap Pemerintah yang defensif bahwa aturan tidak dibuat dengan motivasi mengekang pers sangat disayangkan, makin teringat pernyataan Prof Satjito Rahardjo guru besar FH Undip Semarang bahwa Undang-undang adalah cacat sejak dilahirkan , membenarkan RUU ITE sudah membawa kontroversial, walau muatannya sangat diperlukan dan mengatur semua keperluan informasi teknologi dan transaksi elektronik , menjadi cacat dengan adanya kandungan pasal penyebar kebencian, walau secara sadar dan tak sadar jika tidak segera disikapi maka akan membawa korban setelah diundangakan oleh pemerintah menjadi Undang-undang (tempo 9 April 2008).
Kebebasan berekspresi melalui media masa yang diraih para pejuang reformasi dengan dicabutnya pasal menebar kebencian oleh MK tentunya jangan di sia-siakan , dengan membuat aturan lain walau hakikatnya sama , kebebasan yang diberikan kepada akan percuma jika membiarkan pasal 27 ayat3 dan pasal 28 ayat 2 RUU ITE , kiranya belum terlambat jika segera dilakukan penyempurnaan atau menunggu setelah menjadi Undang-undang diajukan uji materi di MK.
